Course Description

InstaMind PEAC

The Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC) program is a part-time withdrawal program for upper Primary school Year 5 and 6 students in public schools. Identified students are selected to participate in differentiated programs offered in a range of delivery modes. In Year 4, all public-school students are assessed through a test in the third term for the PEAC program's eligibility. To be succeed in the PEAC exam, students should begin their preparation from the first term of year 4.

The PEAC selection test consists of two sections:

  • Reading Comprehension and Verbal Reasoning comprises 25 multiple-choice questions and two types: Reading Comprehension and Reasoning by Analogy.
  • Mathematical and Non-Verbal Reasoning comprises 25 multiple-choice questions of two types: Mathematical Reasoning and Abstract Reasoning.

The test measures the child's ability to:

  • Recognise patterns
  • Predict with accuracy
  • Use their reasoning skills in a range of contexts
  • Apply their knowledge and learning in language, mathematics, and thinking scientifically

Every year approximately 880 Year 4 students across Western Australia are selected for the PEAC program using percentiles, representing about 3% of all public-school enrolments.
